How to find the best mobile deal for you
Finding the mobile deal that best suits you comes down to certain basic characteristics, each of which is individual to the user. You will probably have your phone for a while – so it’s important to get it right.
Mobile phone affordability
It might seem boring to consider, but for the most part, the best mobile phone plan for you will have a lot to do with the mobile phone plan that you can best afford. It’s useful to, in the first instance, consider the types of phone that you may be able to afford outright, as this gives you more control when it comes to choosing a carrier and determining the amount you wish to spend on the phone over the course of a year.
It is useful to work out your budget first, and then go shopping. Chat with a phone salesperson that sells a variety of carriers and does not have any particular network or handset bias – this will mean you are more likely to get an honest viewpoint.
Phone functionality
Ask yourself this – is the phone going to be used for business, pleasure or both? Whatever the answer, for its intended purposes, what are the most important functionality aspects? Do you require a high-quality camera? Will the ability to access your email and other web applications as quickly as possible be the most important thing to you? Do you want a handset that is predominantly a “gaming device”?
Weigh up your wants and needs and use these to determine the right handset for you and therefore the right network carrier also.
Mobile style: Phone look and feel
This is hugely important: the look and feel of certain phones has a lot to do with the target market they most appeal to. Do you require the thinnest phone possible to fit comfortably into your top pocket? Would you rather a larger phone with a larger screen? Does colour and shape matter most to you?
Many phones are sold to users who don’t really care much about functionality on the basis of how they look, and how this look suits the image that they are comfortable with. Of course, a mobile phone probably shouldn’t define the owner, but these days a person might choose a phone to reflect their personality just as they would choose clothing or a car.
Think about the future
If you choose a mobile solution via a specific carrier then you have to consider that you’ll need to stick with this plan, these costs, and this carrier for at least the terms of your contract agreement. For this reason, it’s important to choose wisely upfront.
If you have any issues with the carrier at the outset, don’t go with them just because their phone “looks” the nicest. Choose your phone for your future – they are expensive devices that you will use several times per day – you want to get it right.
